Accelerated Reader – Independent reading program which requires volunteers to help test children to determine reading levels, to assist with book selection and to test children on books read within their levels.
Carnival – Evening of fun at school. Requires volunteers to coordinate game/activity booths, publicity, ticket sales, set up and clean up. The carnival also features a Food Court, which needs individuals to obtain food and drinks prior to the event; and to help with the set up, food preparation, sales, serving and cleaning that night.
Clothing Sale – Major fund raising activity that benefits the school and sellers. Needs volunteers for planning, publicity, receiving, sorting, straightening, security, sales, ticket sorting and clean up.
Directory – Volunteers compile information (i.e. family phone numbers, addresses, class lists, teachers’ numbers) for publication.
Parent Enrichment – Committee finds and schedules speakers to address parent/child issues.
ExCEL (Extra Curricular Enrichment Learning) – One or two volunteers per grade work with teachers in scheduling speakers and activities to enhance curriculum.
Hand In Hand – Volunteers work to determine and implement projects that involve our school in helping the community.
Hospitality – Individuals coordinate refreshments and/or meals for teachers and staff during times such as Parent/Teacher conferences, Welcome Back Breakfasts, National Education Week and Teacher Appreciation Week.
Library Media Center (LMC)/ Visiting Authors – Volunteers organize and publicize visiting authors; and coordinate the sale of the authors’ books and luncheon for the authors.
Membership – Chairpersons register members during the annual membership drive at the beginning of the school year, keep records of dues paid, distribute membership cards; and are available to register new members at any time throughout the year.
Newsletter – Committee gathers information, typesets, proofreads and publishes the monthly “RACCOON TALES”, which includes PTA meeting minutes, letters from the PTA President, other school related notices/information and lunch menus.
PALS (Parents as Literacy Tutors) –Volunteers work with students that need extra help in the areas of reading and writing.
Parent/Child Functions – Committees work on father/daughter and mother/son events.

Red Ribbon Week – Volunteers plan and complete student activities during a week dedicated to drug awareness.
Reflections – National PTA sponsored cultural arts project needing individuals that organize publicity and student entries involving competition at the local, district and state levels.
Room Parent Coordinators – Work with parent volunteers per classroom in the planning and solicitation of help for class parties.
Science Fair – Volunteers coordinate information flyers and presentations, prepare rules booklets, complete project registration, publicize the event, select judges, and obtain awards for ceremony.
Scrip – Chairperson takes orders for and distributes gift certificates that are sold to the school community, which offers the school a certain percentage per retailer.
Student Birthdays –Volunteers print students’ names on McDonald’s coupons for the principal to distribute during their birthday months.
Vision & Hearing – Committee assists school nurse with annual vision and hearing screenings of students.
Volunteer Coordinator – Responsible for preparing PTA Volunteer Form that’s provided at registration. Collects responses and compiles volunteer lists for committee chairpersons.
Website – Individual updates and maintains the PTA website.
Welcoming – Volunteers plan the new family reception at Meet & Greet Night; and welcome and survey new families as they arrive at GRE throughout the year.
Yearbook – Committee is responsible for taking pictures, collecting pictures of school activities throughout the year and compiling the yearbook for publication. Pictures, labeled with teachers’ names and grade levels, will be accepted in the office for use in the yearbook.
