Minutes and Correspondence:

Treasurer’s Report:
Mary Lloyd gave a report. As of March 19, 2008 there is $11,205.55 remaining for ExCEL and $11,012.42 for general budget items.
Budget Requests
Destination Imagination
Seven third graders have made it to the state competition and are requesting an additional $115 for the entry fee, in addition to the $250 already budgeted. Those present discussed that such requests have been denied in the past, due to budget constraints and the lack of breadth in the numbers of children this benefits. After much discussion, this request was denied.
Outdoor Lab
The 52 sixth graders will “split” Outdoor Lab with Leawood Elementary this year. GRE offered to pay the fees up front and will be reimbursed by Leawood. As such, the sixth grade is asking for an additional $185 to front the cost. This will appear as a deficit or “temporary loan” until we are reimbursed. Janice Kaufman moved and Missy Stipp seconded to approve. The motion carried.
Field Day
An invoice to purchase $460.24 for Field Day ribbons was denied by those present.
Columbine After Prom
GRE PTA received a request for a contribution for the Columbine High School after prom event. In the past we have contributed $100. Missy Stipp moved and Tammy Simons seconded to contribute $100 to the fund. The motion carried.
6th Grade Continuation
Mary Lloyd read a request from Tracey Tiedman for $200 for the sixth grade continuation reception, which was approved by the group. In addition, Tamra Van Norstrand moved and Missy Stipp seconded to add Sixth Grade Continuation as a line item to the budget. The motion carried.
